ATTENTION
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered
as a result of these events.

We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.

Every GCVFD member that responded to the calls send their thoughts and condolences
to everyone affected by the incidents.

2 House Alerted For The Single Vehicle MVA

On January 15th at 0022 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the single vehicle accident vehicle into the structure at 475 Hammond Street. Rescue Engine 22 arrived on scene advising of one vehicle that had struck the structure and resting in a fence.

2 House Alerted For The Single Vehicle MVA

On January 8th at 0805 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the single vehicle accident in the 9300 block of Cacapon Road. Rescue Engine 2 with a crew of 2 and BLS with 1 responded at 0813 Hrs. BLS 2 and the Chief arrived on scene at 0819 Hrs to find a single vehicle off the roadway into a tree. Due to extremely bad road conditions Cacapon Road was shut down after the patient was transported by Morgan Company 7, Company 2 units turned the scene over to law enforcement at 0831 Hrs then returned to service.

2 House Alerted For The Single Vehicle MVA

On January 7th at 1733 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the single vehicle accident no injuries vehicle blocking the roadway in the 3000 block of Cacapon Road. Rescue Engine 2 with a crew of 3 and the chief responded at 1736 Hrs. While enroute dispatch advised of a vehicle that had struck a deer with fluids leaking into the roadway. Rescue Engine 2 arrived on scene at 1742 Hrs to find all hazards out of the roadway. Units went available at 1744 Hrs
Working Flu Fire 2's First Due

On January 7th at 1220 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the Flu Fire at 418 Wiggins Run Road. Rescue Engine 2 with a crew of 2 and the chief responded at 1225 Hrs. Rescue Engine 2 arrived on scene at 1227 Hrs to find a working flu fire. Chief 2 (R. Stiener) established command and requested Berkeley Springs Company 1 for additional manpower bringing Engine 11 with a crew of 5. Units went available at 1323 Hrs

Tanker 2 Runs The Tanker Assist

On January 4th at 0421 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the Mutual Assist at 1100 Highland Ridge Road. Tanker 22 responded with 2 at 0430 Hrs. Other responding units were Engine 11(Berkeley Springs Fire), and Tanker 3-20(South Morgan Fire). Engine 11 arrived on scene to find and outdoor woodstove and woodpile involved. Tanker 22 and Tanker 320 both arrived on scene at 0451 Hrs. Tanker 3-20 supplied Engine 11 and Tanker 22 Crew assisted in mopup operations. Units were available at 0531 Hrs

Station 2 Alerted For The Appliance Fire

On January 3rd at 2119 Hrs the Great Cacapon Fire Company was dispatched for the Appliance Fire at 100 Marty Lane. Chief 2 advised dispatch to complete the box due to the fact they were unsure if the fire was out bringing Berkeley Springs Company 1, Paw Paw Company 32, and South Morgan Company 3. Rescue Engine 2 responded with 4 and the chief at 21:24 Hrs and Tanker 22 with 2 followed by BLS 2 with 2. Other responding units were Engine 11, Tanker 12(Berkeley Springs Fire), Engine 32, Tanker 32(Paw Paw Fire), and Tanker 3-20(South Morgan Fire). Rescue Engine 2 arrived on scene at 21:37 Hrs with nothing showing, Captain 2 (Matt Grimley) assumed Marty Lane command and advised all incoming units to stage on Milo School Road. Crews entered to find the fire out and command held 2 units only, the homeowner had already removed the drywall to extinguish the fire. Units were available at 22:19 Hrs
